Bassett Engineering surveyed, designed, obtained permits, and provided construction phase engineering including inspection during installation of the Cemetery Road bridge replacement. The bridge is located on Cemetery Road over East Fork Sinnemahoning Creek in Wharton Township, Potter County. The brand new bridge is a 42-ft span by 24-foot long by 10 ft-high precast concrete arch with cast-in-place footings. The contractor for this project was Charles J. Merlo Inc. out of Mineral Point, PA, they purchased the precast arch from an approved supplier and installed the same. A PennDOT Multimodal Transportation Fund grant which was awarded in March of 2021 helped offset construction costs. The arch itself, headwalls, wing walls, and wing wall footers were precast concrete along with precast ‘Express’ concrete forms for the arch foundations, within which the Contractor cast concrete in place. All precast superstructure pieces were delivered and erected in one work day. Fantastic work to all who were involved with the project, excited for people in Wharton Township to enjoy the new bridge!
