Lewis Township started its upgraded Wastewater Treatment Plant this spring. This substantial upgrade to the old plant utilizes the Virginia Initiative Plant (VIP) with Step Feed process. The VIP provides biological phosphorus and total nitrogen removal without chemicals. Step feed has already proven invaluable to treat significance peak flows.
