Completed: August 2021
Bassett Engineering started designing the Lackawanna River Basin Sewer Authority (LRBSA) Aeration Pipeline Replacement at the Throop Wastewater Treatment Plant project in July 2020. The project aimed to replace an existing process aeration pipe which has historically suffered leaks leading to increased operational costs and decreased efficiency at the plant; the aerated process tanks in particular.
The new aeration pipeline, which was constructed in April 2021 by JEV Construction, uses corrosion-resistant materials and is designed to last much longer than its traditional ductile iron predecessor. The total cost of the project was $421,000. It will offer sustained improvement in years to come for the Authority.
