Completed Project: Clifford Park Pedestrian Bridge
Bassett Engineering designed, permitted, bid, and inspected construction of the installation of a new GRS-IBS bridge in the Clifford Township Community Park over the East Branch of Tunkhannock Creek. BE selected a prefabricated steel truss recreation bridge and designed GRS abutments, a revolutionary bridge technology backed by PennDOT and the FHWA. The bridge will require minimal maintenance by the township and is able to pass floods up to the 100-year storm. The weathering steel truss spans 70’ with a clear width of 8’ allowing pedestrians and Township utility vehicles to access the previously inaccessible parts of the park across the creek. This bridge is a beautiful addition for Clifford Park and has many great uses for residents to enjoy.
The project was constructed by Barhite Excavating of Clifford, PA.

Lycoming County Bridge Bundling Groundbreaking
Bassett Engineering was honored to participate in the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Lycoming County Bridge Bundling Program this Tuesday. The program involves repair and replacement of seventeen locally owned bridges across the County to be administered in four bundles. Construction of Bundle 1, coinsisting of four aluminum box culverts, is beginning with Mill Road in Limestone Township. The deteriorating existing steel plate pipe culvert will be replaced with an aluminum box culvert set on concrete footers with Aluminum structural plate headwalls and wingwalls. The aluminum box culverts are supplied by Contech Engineered Solutions and will be installed by Wolyniec Construction of Williamsport, PA.
Bassett Engineering was selected to design the project less than a year ago and was able to beat the project delivery schedule provided in the RFP by an entire year. The bridge design package is unique, ensuring the bridge bundle would be large enough to obtain cost savings, yet also small enough to allow local contractors to compete in the bid process. The overall design of the bundling program is not just about constructing new bridges but saving money to build even more bridges in the future. Bassett Engineering takes great pride in serving our home county on this landmark project.
